Buffy the Vampire Slayer ran on television for seven glorious seasons, and it was loaded with great characters. But as much as we all loved the Scooby Gang and other assorted heroes and love interests, it was the villains who really kept the residents of Sunnydale on their toes. In today’s edition of the Best Horror Blog, we’re taking a look at the Top 10 villains of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Enjoy!

10. Sweet – Appearing in “Once More, with Feeling,” Sweet is a demon who casts a spell forcing the residents of Sunnydale to sing songs revealing their innermost feelings. In certain cases, this release of emotion even leads to spontaneous combustion for the performer.
9. Adam – Part human, part demon and part robot, Adam was created to be the perfect organism. He’s also armed to the teeth, with a bone skewer, grenade launcher and minigun.
8. Spike – Having killed two slayers before running into Buffy, the vampiric Spike was one tough customer (especially with the maniacal Drusilla by his side). He changed his ways by Season 5, however, and would later go on to save the world and become Buffy’s lover.
7. The Trio – Originally a group of semi-harmless nerds, The Trio consisted of Warren Mears, Andrew Wells and Jonathan Levinson. But when Warren begins to demonstrate darker urges, the rest of the group find themselves slowly corrupted. Mears’ killing of Tara also kicked off the whole dark Willow storyline, although it cost him his hide (literally).
6. The Gentlemen – With their cadaverous appearances and twisted grins, the sound-stealing Gentlemen were some of the most visually striking villains to ever grace the Buffyverse. They even had creepy assistants who ran around in straitjackets. If you haven’t seen the episode entitled “Hush,” do yourself a favor and watch it.
5. Caleb – This former priest and serial killer was bad enough when he was simply human, but then he hooks up with the First Evil and starts killing Slayers and Watchers in droves. He’s also the reason why Xander wears a patch over his eye.
4. Mayor Wilkins – Perpetually cheery and backed up by the psychotic Faith, Mayor Wilkins was the epitome of the corrupt politician.
3. The Master – He technically killed Buffy twice, but that still wasn’t enough to save this ancient ruler of Sunnydale from extinction.
2. Glorificus/Glory – A mad goddess to wants to return to her own dimension, even if it means the destruction of Earth. Buffy had to sacrifice herself to stop Glory, but fortunately our hero’s death didn’t last too long.
1. Angel – While many of the above did physical damage to Buffy, Angel tops the list because he stole the vampire slayer’s heart. He was also decidedly wicked when his curse kicked in, murdering teachers and even killing a teenager’s pet fish.
