Top Ten Movies With A Chainsaw

Can you imagine anything worse than being chainsawed to death? Just that terrible sound of the motor throttling up as it digs into flesh and bone is enough to give you a bad case of the willies. If you like movies featuring the most inappropriate surgical tool out there, here is a list of the top ten movies with a chainsaw.

  1. Texas Chainsaw Massacre – The original movie has always been a cult favorite but it got a rejuvenation shot with the remake. Probably the most prominent and well known film to feature a chainsaw. Plus everyone likes movies about Texas hillbilly cannibals, right?
  2. Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning – If you want to see the start of Leatherface and his family, this is the movie for you. Set a few years before the original, we get to see of leatherhead already has a fondness for chainsaws. When some teenagers get stranded in Texas, they become a buffet for the Hewitt family.
  3. Chainsaw Sally – A young girl witnesses the murder of her parents. The sight naturally unhinged her just a little bit. Now whenever she thinks someone needs to be punished, what better too to use than a good ol’ chainsaw.
  4. Scarface – Al Pacino as the Cuban drug lord had a nasty encounter with a chainsaw. When he and a friend go to an apartment to make a drug deal, things go terribly wrong. Pacino gets to watch as his friend gets cut up by a chainsaw in the bathroom.
  5. Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers – Now here is a little gem of a movie few have heard of but should see. The name says it all. Basically, a movie about a prostitute who gets involved with a chainsaw cult and features lots of nude body parts.
  6. Evil Dead 2 – One of the best in the Sam Raimi line of campy horror. The character Ash took the chainsaw and turned it into an undead-killing tool. He first used it to cut off his own hand after it became possessed.
  7. Army of Darkness – The third in the Evil Dead trilogy is the best. We again have our hero Ash with his chainsaw thrown back into the Middle Ages. He gets to use his chainsaw to the astonishment of the peasant ‘primates’.
  8. Dawn of the Dead – George Romero knows zombies, as evidenced by the second in his Living Dead trilogy. In this installment, survivors take refuge in a mall to escape the undead. They learn that chainsaws work great to dispatch the walking flesh eaters.
  9. Training Day – Denzel Washington is a cop who has a new partner in Ethan Hawke. The problem is that Washington’s character is as crooked as they come. At one point he and Hawke have a very close encounter with the wrong end of a chainsaw.
  10. Hostel – This shock-value flick raised some real eyebrows with its depictions of torture. In it, the main character gets captured and held prisoner in an abandoned building. His torturer tries to give him a close shave with a chainsaw before falling and cutting his own leg off.
