Vincent Price starred in over 100 films, many of them being in the horror or sci-fi genre. Standing 6’4” and speaking with a distinctive voice, Price was often cast as a film’s villain, although his roles as a hero are some of his finest. In honor of his contributions to cinema, we now proudly present the top 10 Vincent Price movies.

10. The Oblong Box – Having little in common with the Edgar Allan Poe short story, The Oblong Box stars Price, Rupert Davies and Christopher Lee. The story revolves around British citizens being punished for transgressions against the natives of Africa.
9. The Raven – Directed by Roger Corman, The Raven blends horror and comedy with Price, Boris Karloff and Peter Lorre playing rival sorcerers. Jack Nicholson also appears in an early role.
8. The Last Man on Earth – Price stars in an adaptation of Richard Matheson’s novella, I Am Legend. Made in Italy, the film tells the story of an Earth overrun with vampires and the man who seeks to destroy them.
7. House of Wax – Price plays a brilliant wax sculptor who goes mad and opens his own terrifying House of Wax (with strangely realistic sculptures). Charles Bronson plays Igor, a deaf-mute sculptor. The first color 3D feature released by a major American studio.
6. The Abominable Dr. Phibes – A disfigured musician sets out to kill the doctors he blames for his wife’s death. A campy hit for Price, and it spawned a sequel, Dr. Phibes Rises Again.
5. House on Haunted Hill – An eccentric millionaire invites five people to stay overnight in a haunted house. Anyone who succeeds will earn lots of cash, but ghosts and murderers stand in their way. Lots of plot twists in this one.
4. The Fly – A scientist tries to perfect a teleportation device, but the presence of a fly causes horrifying results. After you watch this one, be sure and catch the excellent 1986 remake starring Jeff Goldblum.
3. Witchfinder General – Price plays an insane witch hunter in this influential 1968 film. Based on the 1966 novel by Ronald Bassett, it tells the story of Matthew Hopkins, a real-life witch hunter.
2. Edward Scissorhands – Directed by Tim Burton, this good-natured fantasy film was Price’s last picture. Johnny Depp plays Edward Scissorhands, and Price co-stars as his gentle creator.
1. The Ten Commandments – One of the greatest epics of all time, The Ten Commandments tells the story of Moses and his rescue of the Hebrew people. Price plays Baka, a master builder who treats his slaves cruelly.
