Top 10 Female Horror Movie Villains »

Born in Austin, Texas, Tobe Hooper made his mark on the horror industry by directing the legendary Texas Chain Saw Massacre. Since that time, he’s remained active in the business, and he continues to turn out crowd-pleasing horror flicks. In this list, we’ll be taking a look at the top 10 Tobe Hooper movies.
10. Spontaneous Combustion – Brad Dourif stars as a man with the powers of pyrokinesis (controlling fire and electricity with his mind). Every time he uses his powers, however, it takes a tremendous toll on his body.
9. Invaders from Mars – As aliens begin to invade Earth, a young boy and the school nurse must try to convince others of the truth. A box office bomb, but it’s still a decent rental.
8. The Mangler – Based on a short story by Stephen King, the film concerns a demonically possessed laundry press on a killing spree.
7. The Funhouse – A young girl and her friends visit a traveling carnival, but when they stumble across a murder, they are soon stalked by a deformed madman. Notable due to the sympathetic portrayal of the killer.
6. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 – A female DJ and a former Texas Ranger (Dennis Hopper) team up to investigate a rash of chainsaw murders across the state of Texas. If you’ve ever wanted to see Dennis Hopper in a chainsaw duel with Leatherface, then this is the movie for you.
5. Eaten Alive – A deranged hotel owner likes to cut up his guests with a scythe and feed them to his large pet alligator. Neville Brand stars as Judd, the proprietor of the hotel.

3. Salem’s Lot – A writer returns to his hometown and gets caught up in the middle of a rampage by an ancient vampire. Despite the fact that it’s a made-for-TV movie, there are plenty of genuinely scary moments and a solid cast.
2. Poltergeist – A family moves into the suburbs and finds that their house is haunted by malevolent spirits. The little girl communicating with the ghosts via the static of the television is a classic, as is her declaration that “They’re here.” Hey, it’s even got Craig T. Nelson.
1. The Texas Chain Saw Massacre – A highly influential film in the horror genre, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre tells the story of a group of teens menaced by a group of deranged cannibals (chief among them Leatherface, who wears a mask made of human skin).
