Top Ten Hack/Slash Villains
Hack/Slash is one brutal and twisted comic. Published by Devil’s Due Publishing, it follows the story of Cassie and her disfigured companion Vlad as they track down and kill ‘slashers’. The bad guys are just bizarre but so you can see for yourself, here are the top ten Hack/Slash villains.
- 1. Lords of Nef – These guys must have been spawned by Cthulhu. They are the rulers of the dimensional world known as Nef and their main purpose is to reproduce by mating with young virgin women. They apparently want Cassie dead because they did not appreciate her killing one of their own.
2. Slashers – Slashers are the killers in the series. Most of them appear as undead who are reborn full of rage. However, some slashers are still human and can control their undead counterparts.
3. Father Wrath – One of the undead types of slashers who use to be a baptist preacher. After his nephew kills him for sexually assaulting him, he is reborn under the control of a Laura Lochs. Despite being put back down by Cassie and Vlad, Wrath appeared later on in the series.
4. Laura Lochs – Talk about your insanely devoted zealots, this girl is it. Lochs was a young Catholic school girl who was a few shy of a full deck. She was a crazed human slasher that controlled the evil Father Wrath.
5. Ashley Guthrie – After reading Land of Lost Toys, you will never again think that teddy bears are just cute and cuddly. This undead boy who lives in the plane of dreams uses his toys to kill you. After Cassie and Vlad dispose of him, his spirit finds safety in the same cuddly teddy bear that was used to kill him.
6. Ms. America – Whoever said beauty is more than skin deep never met Emily Christy (AKA Ms. America). A former beauty pageant winner, she wants to experiment on slashers in order to create products to help you stay younger looking (think Revlon combined with the Umbrella Corporation). Things naturally go wrong and Ms. America gets turned into a slasher.
7. D1ab0liq – Once a blogger who was also a serial killer, he died trying to escape from the police. He came back as an undead entity that lives within the framework of the internet. His spirit can possess another person and force them to do all sorts of things, including kill themselves.
8. Muffy Jaworski – An old woman who keeps tabs on the activities of Cassie and Vlad. Eventually she comes to the conclusion that Cassie is the one responsible for all the deaths. But it turns out that a certain cuddly teddy bear (see #5 above) has been influencing her dreams.
9. Bobby – Talk about a love for animals, this guy still had it even after he came back as the undead. As a former veterinary assistant, he was accidentally killed by his boss’ fiancé. After he came back to life, he used his powers to control animals and cause a lot pet-induced torment.
10. The Black Lamp Society – Every good horror comic needs to have a secret society of weirdoes. The Black Lamp Society seem to think that slashers have rights same as any other innocent-until-proven-guilty criminal. They want to sacrifice Cassie for her crimes in murdering the misunderstood slashers.
