Top Ten DC Comics Demons
DC Comics is responsible for creating some of the most well-known superheroes in the comics industry. They are also responsible for creating a number of supernatural demons and entities for the heroes to fight. For some of the coolest beings from another dimension, here are the top ten DC Comics demons.
- Etrigan the Demon – A demon from Hell bound to a mortal named Jason Blood. He was originally summoned by the wizard Merlin to aid Camelot but has stuck around for a few centuries. He also has a penchant for speaking only in rhyme.
- Trigon – The result of a mating between a god-like entity and a young woman who was a mortal member of a cult. Trigon is pure evil and rules over hundreds of worlds in his own dimension. He wants to add Earth to his domain but is constantly thwarted by his daughter Raven and the Teen Titans.
- Raven – The daughter of Trigon, she is only half demon and has to control her emotions to keep her evil side at bay. She has several abilities, such as empathy and teleportation. Her father Trigon has tried to use her many times to help open a portal between his world and our own.
- Neron – A demon and trickster who often gives great power to supervillains in return for their souls. He was responsible for the death of Wonder Woman (who later came back to life) and for killing the villains The Rogues. Later, he was imprisoned in Dr. Fate’s tower where he still managed to cause trouble.
- Azazel – A demon who wanted to rule in Hell after Lucifer gave up the position. But Lucifer gave the keys to the character Morpheus before he left. When Azazel tries to trick Morpheus into giving up the keys, he gets trapped in a bottle by the lord of Dreams.
- Asmodel – A former angel of heaven, he was sent to Hell after he tried to lead a second revolt against The Almighty. From there he banded together with the demon Neron who ended up betraying him. The former angel was sent back to Hell where he became Neron’s whipping boy.
- Lord Satanus – A sometime ally of his demonic sister Blaze, Lord Satanus appears as the traditional horned demon. He once tried to capture the entire soul of the city of Metropolis but changed his mind when Superman offered his soul in return. He and his sister lead a revolt of Purgatory against Hell but he is betrayed by his sister after their victory.
- Blaze – Lord Satanus’ crazed demonic sister, she is sometimes at odds with her brother. At one point she was responsible for stealing souls at a nightclub but was eventually stopped by Superman. She and her brother often fight for control of Hell.
- Nekron – A demon who reigns in a dimensional area next to Purgatory. He gets most of his power from the spirits of all the deceased as they must wait in his domain before going on to either Heaven or Hell. Nekron was ultimately responsible for bringing back a legion of dead heroes in the storyline Blackest Night.
- First of the Fallen – This demon was the first being created into existence and also the first to be banished to Hell. He was originally created to be God’s trusted companion but decides God is not a lot of fun to hang out with so gets banished. When he makes it to the mortal world, he has several run-ins with John Constantine.
