Top 10 Christian Horror Novels »

Whether you’re talking about the Johnny Blaze or Danny Ketch version, Ghost Rider is one of the coolest heroes in all of comics. Not only does he have a flaming chopper, but the guy can use lethal chains and make a person face their own wicked nature. How neat is that? Of course, all that power has a few drawbacks, such as a really nasty assortment of arch-enemies. I now present the Top 10 Ghost Rider Villains.
10. Jack O’Lantern – Possessing a fragment of Lucifer’s soul, this villain was able to detach and explode his head (which, of course, resembled a Jack O’Lantern). In the end, however, he was dispatched when the Ghost Rider ripped out his heart, caused it to burst into flames, and then placed it back inside his chest (resulting in a lethal explosion). While he wasn’t the toughest Ghost Rider villain, you’ve gotta admit that a guy with a pumpkin for a head is pretty damned cool.
9. Deathwatch – A demonic creature who has also posed as a crime lord and battled Ghost Rider numerous times. Despite having been killed at the hands of our hero, Deathwatch has returned with his evil ninja warriors to once again cause trouble.
8. Blackout – He became the arch-enemy of the Ghost Rider after a battle left him permanently scarred. With some amount of demonic blood, he’s one of the most cruel foes the Ghost Rider has ever faced, as witnessed by his murder of a Morlock child named Pixie. He has killed countless other innocents for fun and as an assassin, and his most recent appearance was as part of a gang formed by the villainous Hood.
7. Nightmare – The ruler of a dream dimension, Nightmare roams the landscape on a black unicorn and torments all who would enter. A being of vast power, he has sired such horrors as Trauma and the Dreamqueen, and his plots to expand his domain have often brought him into conflict with the Ghost Rider.
6. Lilith - Known as the “Mother of All Demons,” Lilith is a powerful, ancient being who became a villain of Ghost Rider after realizing that he had destroyed many of her offspring over the years. What could be more dangerous than a mother seeking revenge for her children?
5. Centurious – A soulless servant of Mephisto, Centurious was originally a man who sold his soul in order to combat the demonic Zarathos and save the woman he loved. Centuries later, he would clash with the Ghost Rider on numerous occasions, and his lack of a soul made him especially difficult for the vengeance-minded biker. He was seemingly killed when Johnny Blaze shot him in the head, but nobody stays dead forever in the comic books.
4. Blackheart - Created by Mephisto, Blackheart has tempted the Ghost Rider several times, even going so far as to try and convince him to destroy Mephisto. Virtually immortal, you can bet that he’ll return as an enemy again and again.
3. Lucifer – Also known as the “Prince of Lies” and the “Prince of Darkness,” this powerful demon is one of the Ghost Rider’s oldest and most powerful foes. Most of his plans have centered around eliminating the human soul within the Ghost Rider, thus turning him into a soulless killing machine which could then be used to destroy mankind.
2. Mephisto - The demonic ruler who created the Ghost Rider in the first place by bonding Johnny Blaze to the demon Zarathos. Since that time, he has tormented the Ghost Rider on a number of occasions and remains one of his most frequent enemies.
1. Zarathos – The demonic entity originally bonded with Johnny Blaze to create the Ghost Rider. The two constantly battled for control of Blaze’s physical body, with Blaze eventually getting free of the curse. Zarathos has continued to appear in the pages of Ghost Rider over the years, although he’s currently turned to stone. There have been rumors that he was actually an angel, but whatever the case, he always brought a “man versus himself” element to the Ghost Rider’s internal conflict.
