If you like zombies and you like to read, why not try the wonderful world of zombie fiction? To help get you started on the right path, I’ve put together this list of the top 10 zombie novels currently available.

10. Pride and Prejudice and Zombies by Jane Austen and Seth Grahame-Smith – This mashup takes elements from Pride and Prejudice and mixes it with a zombie outbreak. 19th century England has never been so bloody (or hilarious).
9. DeadFellas by David Whitman – A unique work which mixes zombies and comedy with the world of crime. Hard to find in print, but well worth your time.
8. The Dead by Mark E. Rogers – A group of regular folks struggle to survive in a world filled with the living dead. But instead of the usual flash-eating zombies, these creatures from the grave are animated by the spirits of the damned. Their goal – to make humanity suffer for all eternity. Zombie fiction with a biblical twist.
7. The Zombie Survival Guide by Max Brooks – If you’re an average guy or gal wanting advice on how to survive a zombie attack, this is the guide for you. Written in a tongue-in-cheek fashion by the author of World War Z.
6. Day by Day Armageddon by J.L. Bourne – A soldier keeps a journal of a zombie epidemic around the planet. As you might imagine, the number of ravenous zombies only grows over time, and things begin to look very bleak down the stretch.
5. Plague of the Dead by Z.A. Recht – Part of the series known as The Morningstar Strain, this novel revolves around a viral outbreak with a 100% mortality rate. The victims then rise to walk the Earth and devour the living. As the world falls into a chaos, a group of military men desperately seek a way to pull humanity from the edge of extinction.
4. City of the Dead by Brian Keene – The second novel in the series, City of the Dead tells of Jim Thurmond and his continuing mission to be reunited with his son. The zombies in this series are not the usual shambling morons. In fact, they’re possessed by demonic spirits and capable of doing almost anything they could do in life.
3. Monster Island by David Wellington – This story picks up one month after New York City has been overrun by the undead. Lots more action than most zombie novels, it was followed by Monster Nation and Monster Planet. Highly recommended for fans of both zombie and action movies.
2. The Rising by Brian Keene – The first in a series of novels, this book tells of the dead coming back to life, possessed by demons. A concerned father must try to rescue his son, and he’s joined in his quest by a preacher, scientist and ex-prostitute.
1. World War Z by Max Brooks – Written by the son of Mel Brooks, World War Z is a serious look at a zombie outbreak which almost destroyed humanity. Each chapter is basically an interview with someone from around the globe, and all of their stories combine to tell a horrifying tale of mankind on the brink. Look for the movie adaptation within the next few years.
