One of the greatest screen villains of all time, Count Dracula has been portrayed by over 20 actors in film and television. In the list below, I’ve narrowed it down to the Top 10 actors who’ve played Dracula. If you’re a fan of the bloodsucker from Transylvania, you can’t go wrong with any of these portrayals.

10. Rudolph Martin – German actor who played the title role in the 2001 USA network film Dark Prince: The True Story of Dracula. He would again portray the immortal vampire in the fifth season debut of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
9. John Carradine – Played Dracula (aka Baron Latos) in House of Frankenstein (1944) and House of Dracula (1945).
8. Louis Jourdan – Starred as Dracula in a 1977 television adaptation noted for closely following the book.

7. Klaus Kinski – The volatile German actor brought a great deal of intensity to his portrayal of Count Dracula in 1979’s Nosferatu the Vampyre, a remake of the 1922 Nosferatu.
6. Max Scheck – German actor who played the ghastly Count Orlok in the 1922 production of Nosferatu.
5. Jack Palance – Portrayed Dracula in the 1973 television movie. His likeness was the basis for the Marvel Comics version of the Count. Without a doubt, the grittiest Dracula on the list.

4. Bela Lugosi – When most people think of Dracula, Lugosi’s face is the one they see. He played Dracula on Broadway before starring in the classic 1931 version of the story.
3. Gary Oldman – From tortured lover to cruel killer, Gary Oldman’s version is Bram Stoker’s Dracula is the complete package. He looks especially suave in his tophat and old school sunglasses.

2. Frank Langella – Having already been nominated for a Tony Award for his role in the stage adaptation of Stoker’s novel, Langella brought the character to the big screen in 1979 and imbued him with an intense eroticism.

1. Christopher Lee – Looking like evil incarnate, Lee portrayed Dracula in such Hammer horror films as Dracula: Prince of Darkness (1966), Dracula Has Risen from the Grave (1968), and Taste the Blood of Dracula (1970).
